Introducing The Blooming Old Gardener

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant." - Anne Bradstreet

Well, I’ve been told to do a blog for the Old Town Bloomers garden. ‘It’s easy’ my daughter told me. ‘You just talk about what’s happening in the garden.’ So here goes….

This week was a bit cold to do much in the garden on our Fri morning session. But I needed to work off all the pancakes I’d eaten this week, so I did a quick tidy up. I put out some food on our table for the birds that visit our garden. There isn’t much for them to eat at this time of the year. Thinking I’d better be making a start on the veg garden, I planted a rhubarb crown too. Found the first slugs of the year hiding under some tubs.

Then I decided to construct the 2 mini greenhouses I had bought from B&Ms. I began by staring at all the pieces for 15 minutes. Even with the diagram it was difficult to work out where to start. Anyway, my experience with putting together flat pack furniture came in handy. And an hour later I had put together a walk in green house and a smaller one. As well as building up quite a sweat.
