March 2023 recap

Well its now officially spring, but the weather is very confusing. It seems to be all seasons in a day. Of course, we had the spring equinox on the 20th too, with an equal amount of day and night.

There weren't any volunteer sessions in the garden in March, but we were busy anyway. Old Town Bloom on Tour was in Phoenix Park. Doing a litter pick followed by giving out bags of pots, sunflower seeds and wild flower seeds - which you can read about here Litter Picking and Laughs.

They were also very busy giving out these bags at the Halton Makefest at Widnes library and to the local WI. The WI are being encouraged to grow sunflowers for their corner in the Bloomers garden. To be planted out in May, linking in with Eurovision, to show support for Ukraine.

Daffodil and tulip bulbs are out in the garden. The winter flowering Jasmine and some tree blossom are giving colour. Even the rockery has it’s first lot of flowers out. Its Easter soon, a time for getting into the garden. So hopefully we can get the weather to hold some garden sessions.
